School Age Child Care Program
Chateaugay Central School is proud to offer an afternoon
childcare program. The after school program is open to all
Chateaugay Central School students in grades K-6. The after school
program offers a variety of supervised, age-appropriate activities,
a snack, and provides assistance with homework. The after school
program operates as an As Needed Service, which means you are only
charged for the days your child/children attend the program. Your
child/children may attend one day a week or all five, whatever the
need may be.
The Chateaugay Central School after school program is registered
with the New York State Department of Social Services and operates
in compliance with the regulations set forth by this agency. The
local Department of Social Services has day care and child care
monies that you may be eligible to receive. You may contact the
Department of Social Services at 481-1818 for more information about
their programs.
After School Child Care Program
- Program Hours: 2:20-5:30 pm. - The after
school program follows the school calendar and is open on all
days that school is open.
- Payment Policy: The cost of the after
school childcare program is $4.00/day per child with a maximum
amount of $10.00/day for three or more children.
Payments should be received weekly on Friday. If you have a bill
that exceeds $20 or 5 days of payment, your child will not be
allowed to attend the program until the payment has been
received. The money we collect from payments guarantees the
successful operation of the program on a daily basis.
- Late Pick-up Policy: If you pick up your
child/children after the 5:30 pm closing, you will be charged
$10.00 for each child during the time period between 5:30 - 6:00
pm. Late parent pick-up is discouraged.
- Early Dismissal Policy: If school is
dismissed early, the after school program will be provided. The
program will begin at the time the students are dismissed and
will be in operation until 5:30 pm.
The after school program will also operate on Report Card
conference days. The program will begin at 12:15 pm and will be
in operation until 5:30 pm.
The after school program will not operate on days that school is
cancelled.
- Discipline Policy: The after school program
provides your child with a safe place to socialize, have fun,
learn new activities, have a nutritional snack, and receive
assistance with homework. The same discipline policy that
children follow during the regular school day also applies
during the after school program.
Behavior that threatens the safety and comfort level of others
will not be tolerated. Consequences for unacceptable behavior
range from a warning, to contacting parents, to suspension for
the program in extreme cases. It is very important for you, as
the parent, to have a back up childcare plan should this
unfortunate situation occur.
- Emergency Contact Information: All parents
are asked to provide emergency contact information. This
information must be provided on the After School Program
Registration form.
- Persons Designated to Pick up Children: All
parents are asked to provide a list of names of the people who
are allowed to pick up their child/children. The name, the
relationship to the student, the phone number, and the address
of the person(s) should be completed on the registration form.
Parents are asked to provide written notification to the Latch
Key staff if anyone other than those listed will be picking up
their child. In order to honor legal or custody restrictions,
the Latchkey staff must have a copy of the court orders on file
at Latchkey.
