My grading policy is as follows:

Quizzes are worth 20% of the final grade.
Quizzes are at least weekly.  I will drop the lowest quiz grade of each ten week period.

Homework is worth 20% of the final grade.
For most classes, I will assign homework three times a week.  I seldom assign homework on Friday. If homework is 1 day late, a student may only earn up to a 85%.  If 2 days late, a  student may only earn up to a 75%.  After two days, a student may only earn  up to 50% of the grade.  Students are still encouraged to complete the assignment because they can benefit from the practice and 50% is better than 0%.

Speaking is worth 20% of the final grade.
Our speaking grades will consist of cards and speaking activities.  Cards or speaking activities are done almost every week.  Each class has different amount of cards  due.  Each card represents a grammatically correct and level appropriate sentence.  Class time is devoted to this but students may come in any previously scheduled tenth period to avoid speaking in front of their peers.

Tests and Projects are worth 30% of the final grade.
Tests are traditional tests that may or may not involve speaking or listening activities.  Projects will be assigned at times in place of tests and will be graded by a class made set of guidelines.  Each project will have unique guidelines decided upon by the class and me.

Journals are worth 10% of the final grade.  Students will be graded by and have been given guidelines appropriate for their grade level.  These correspond with the New York State Languages Other Than English Standards.

While every effort will be made to post assignments on the website, for a number of reasons it is not always possible, and therefore  it is the student's responsibility to get assignments from teachers during class time.
