- Ian Lesyk and Brett Ouimet stand to be recognized for
their academic efforts. Ian and Brett were Number
1 and 2 respectively for the class of 2005. The
Auditorium was standing room only for this year's
commencement exercises that featured speeches from Ian,
Mrs. Stumpf, Jennifer White and invited guest speaker
Christine LaDuke. Many scholarship award winners
were announced by Mr. Champagne. Special music was
provided by the senior chorus, Miss Peryea, Miss Calnon,
Mr. Breault and Mrs. Trombley. The new 27 foot
drop down screen was used for the slide show. It
was another fine afternoon, but enough of that you want

- Mr. Calnon was surprised at the Monday night board
meeting as the High School Library was dedicated to him
for his many years of service and dedication to
Chateaugay Central School. His family was on hand
for the dedication. A plaque will be permanently
mounted near his picture. Mr. Harrica read a
resolution passed by the members of the school
board. Here are a few more
pictures from the dedication (these guys do not
like to have their pictures taken as much as many of you
do) |

- Mr. Breault gets ready to surprise students in K-6
with a special drawing for two $100 gift certificates at
Monday's Bulldog Awards Day. The special drawing
was h eld
with the names of all the students who were honored with
attendance awards. Many other students won other
special prizes including posters, gift certificates,
hats, t-shirts and much more. Students get a
chance to win by earning a Bulldog award for positive
behavior. The students were very excited for
themselves and their friend. Here

- I received some more great
pictures from the LaTour family of a trip Miss Helm's
class took to Montreal. There has been so much
happening recently that I almost forgot to post
these. Thank you for sending them in. Click

- Mr. Breault leads the audience in congratulating the
graduating class of 2005 (kindergarten that is).
This year's theme was "Tell Us a Story" and
featured a number of famous children's stories with a
twist. There were many great songs and
dances. It was also standing room only as many
parents, grandparents and friends were in
attendance. I juggled 3 cameras to decide which
one I like. That means you have over 200 pictures
to look at. Group

6/14/05
- Many students and staff gathered in Mrs. Gardiner's
room for a goodbye party for Tomohiro Kono, our foreign
exchange student who will be leaving in a few
days. He will be missed. From his soccer
days, to his time on the basketball court to his
participation in chorus and much, much more, Tomo really
became a part of the CCS family over the past school
year. As can be seen from the photos,
many stopped by to wish him well. He was presented
with a class picture from Ms. Pickering and a special
sword case from Mr. Walley. Take Care Tomo! |

-
It was a smaller Marching Band that took to the Malone streets
on Monday for the Memorial Day parade, but they played
well. Congratulations to Miss Peryea and all the band
members.

5/28/05
- It was actually a sunny morning as the CCS Marching
Band took to the streets at the Memorial Day parade this
morning. Mrs. Trombley was there to take some pictures
of the band and some of the parade participants.
They will be performing as part of the Malone Memorial Day
parade on Monday as well.

I had to make a page just
for it. You can find the moving up day information by clicking HERE.
To the left you can see this year's Valedictorian, Ian Lesyk, and Salutorian,
Brett Oiumet. Many students will be participating in the annual awards
night on June 8, 2005 at 7:00 PM. Students chosen to be members of the
National Honor Society will be initiated that night and those students who have
earned recognition for getting on the Honor Roll will receive their pins,

Mock Crash
|
Student Teacher
|
5/12/05
- It was only a drill but it looked real and it could happen.
Once again this year students at CCS witnessed a mock crash in
anticipation of prom weekend. There were a number of
student "victims" including a fatality. All
who saw the event unfold were affected, especially when the
"parents" were notified. Students were given a
chance to sign a pre-prom pledge with members of the
Chateaugay chapter of SADD. We would like to thank the
Chateaugay Fire Department, the state police and all the
actors. There are many pictures
and some are quite graphic, but that is the point. There
are also many pictures showing off the talented men and women
who respond to our needs in these times. We wish
everyone a safe and happy time this weekend. Last

- Miss Gadway, a student teacher who worked with Mrs. Johnston
in her math class recently brought in her own digital camera
to catch some of the action in her 9th period class. As
can be seen in the
photos, Mrs. Johnston kept a close watch on her.
The students were working intently on a group activity when
these pictures were taken. We wish her and all the
student teachers we have had recently, the best of luck as
they graduate in the coming weeks and begin looking for
work.

Trip to France
|
Cape Cod
|
4/26/05
- (from Mrs. Swanston) - Oooh la la! What a time was had in
Paris! From the moment we arrived at Charles de Gaulle to the
sad departure home.
Oh, y eah, we saw it all. We learned the important historical
facts at Versailles, viewing La Jaconde, better known as the
Mona Lisa, and the Coronation at the Louvre, and learning that
Napoleon I took the crown out of the Pontiff’s hands to do
it himself, to the trivial items such as "pooper
scoopers" problems due to their love of dogs.
I would like to thank the parents for lending me their most
prized possessions. I am grateful that I got to know them and
I am a better person for having traveled with them.

- please note I posted these pictures a bit larger that normal
because they are so good. Thanks for the images of an
obviously exciting trip!

Over the weekend a number of CCS students went to Cape
Cod. The environmental club A.L.I.V.E. was on the prowl for
whales and they were rewarded by spotting Right Whales, an
endangered species. Many other whales and dolphins were
spotted as well. The trip to Cape Cod was memorable this
year as the "Blue Whale" (the Suburban) died on the
way down. It was felt that the "Yankees" may not
have been treated very well in Red Sox territory as they tried
to get the vehicle running again. The students and ch aperones did their best to persevere despite the locked car
(which is never locked), the return trip for medical supplies
and late dinners. See one of the weary travelers
for more information. As for the rest of the pictures

Silas Martin sings to his fans as the band "Green
Enema" (which includes Trent Hanley, Pat Cook, and Adam
Cook) delivers the "Green Day" hit "Boulevard
of Broken Dreams" at the Chateaugay Idol co ntest.
The event was sponsored by the Sophomore Class and was a huge
success. The auditorium was packed with friends, family,
and fans. Along with the band were a number of soloists,
some dance routines and a number of really corny jokes doled
out by Tony Lamica who acted as emcee. A special panel
of 5 judges was convened to select a winner and Kayla Ignaczak
was chosen. "Green Enema" tied for second
place with a group that performed a dance routine from "Napolean
Dynamite" Congrats to all involved. Great
Job! More

Kayla Ignaczak and Nate Johnston faced off
last weekend in 3 successful performances of "Annie Get
Your Gun". The two leads were supported by an
amazing cast of students, a tremendous pit band,
tireless stage crew members, and more all under the watchful
eyes of Mr. and Mrs. Breault and Miss Calnon. All
involved are to be congratulated for a wonderful weekend of
laughs, great singing and fun. On

Jazz Group Performs |

1/19/05
-
Many students have been desperately trying to complete
PowerPoint projects recently. The problem is that most
people do not have this program at home. There is an
alternative. It is called OpenOffice. It is a free
program that can be downloaded from their site by clicking
here. It is a large file however so get someone
with a broadband connection and a CD burner or stop by and see
Mr. Trombley for a disc to borrow. This program will let
you work with Word files, Excel and PowerPoint. For a bit more
information about this program and other great technology ideas
and tips, check out this new and developing Technology
News Page. As always, let us know if we can help
out in any way.

Gingerbread
Houses |

12/15/04
-
Students in Mrs. Gardiner's class were spotted making ginger
bread houses recently. Some looked like they had been
through the hurricane season in Florida and one was more of a
mansion than a house, but they all looked quite tasty and I am
sure all the students had a great time making them.

Romeo & Juliet |
Senior Play |
|
12/6/04
-
Students from Mrs. Allen's class were given the task of
preparing a project based upon the classic Shakespeare play
"Romeo & Juliet". Some chose to make a
poster, others created a diorama from a famous scene, and a few
presented original skits. Mrs.
Allen borrowed the web camera to take a few shots.
As you can see, there were many remarkable projects.

11/15/04
- Seniors Nate
Johnston, Sherry Deuyour
and Sarah Knechtel delivered many
laughs this morning. With the new auditorium almost
completed, they and many of the seniors presented "A Bad
Hair Day" to students in grades 4-12. The annual production
is held to raise money for the senior trip. Here are the

Mock Election |
Halloween
Photos |
11/2/04
-
Students in Mr. Miller's Class organized a mock election.
Students were required to register before they voted and when
the votes were counted, John Kerry was the winner. Here
are a few pictures from the afternoon. |
10/29/04
- The
day began with the 7-12 Halloween contest. The winners
were the skit "Amish Paradise" followed by the "Oompa
Loompas" with "Wayne & Garth" coming in 3rd.
Many students thought this was the best year for costumes. Halloween

- Mrs. Gardiner's Food Prep class was recently spotted preparing
apple pies for the residents of the Burke Adult Center.
Greg King was instrumental in getting this project off the
ground and the entire class worked tirelessly to prepare the

Orientation Night - 9/14/04
|
For
the second year in a row, the 7th grade students at CCS reported
a day early to get ready for the new school year. They
were given a chance to find their new rooms, checkout their
lockers and meet their teachers. They were also treated to
an afternoon cookout which was followed by a series of team
building activities. You
can see the new 7th grade class in action by clicking here.
Welcome to middle school. |
Due
to construction in the auditorium, parents gathered in the gym
for this year's annual orientation night. The Culinary
Arts program once again brought snacks. We thank all the
parents for their continued support of their student's
education. Here
